I am house sitting for my neighbors and today the remote would only work the tv ( volume, channels) but not the satellite. Since I am house sitting, I am unfamiliar with dish. It was working fine yesterday.
When pressing the power button for the tv, the tv mode lights up and when pressing a button on satellite like guide the sat mode lights up. Does the tv have to be on a certain channel for the satellite to work?

The tech that installed my dish was adamant that the white cable was the only way to go for satellite TV. So much in fact that I began to doubt my belief that there is no difference other than the color of the cable. I can’t find anything to back his argument up but I thought I would put it out here and see if anyone knew of any reason why the white coax is better than black coax in satellite TV (or any) installation.

I’ve been having problems with our satellite signal going out during the winter months, and the tech support guy on the phone suggested a satellite warmer… I’m a little wary of having an extension cord on our roof and heard that something called a “wedgie cover” (www.wedgiecovers.com) worked well, but I don’t know anyone that has them and really don’t understand how they work as it looks like it blocks the satellite signal. Does anyone have one, and do they work well?
